I just found this community and thought it would be a good place to ask.

I'm currently looking for a used BMX (preferably) or regular bike, so I can bike around town. I was thinking of checking out the Salvation Army, Goodwill and some pawnshops.

Does anyone have any suggestions or things I should look out for when going to this places? Such as price etc...?
Thanks in advance.

anyone need a place/roommate- on busline!!!
I am looking for a roommate for my 2 bed apartment on Porter st, right by 28th & burlingame. Rent is $245 and $50 (half of) cable/internet bill. It is a 12 month lease and I need someone by Sept 14th hopefully, but earlier is ok the room is ready anytime. You would have your own room, and access to kitchen, living room, bathroom, parking, and trash pick up, and laundry facility! It is close to both malls! 13 minutes away from GRCC. I have a ferret (he doesn’t bite or smell) and I smoke but I will smoke outside only if you would like. Please call my cell: 616-617-8238 or email me at FerretJ8@aol.com. Thanks so much for reading this!

Movin on up
Hey there, I'm a would be student from Southwest MI. I'm looking to move somewhere in the area of wyoming or grandville and am looking for a roommate. If anyone here needs a good reliable roommate to live with soon, go ahead and throw me an email at x_out@msn.com . I tried some of those dumb roommate websites, but I can't get ahold of anyone without paying an ungodly amount of money. So if anyone could spread the word, that'd be great. thanks

Free GR Biking Maps!
Cross-posted to grandrapidsmi.

The City of Grand Rapids has printed up a pretty good map of the city with trail routes, suggested streets for biking (ie, Jefferson rather than Division), red dots to mark bike racks, and some suggestions for riding safely in traffic. It's free, and area bike shops should have them (I got mine at Freewheeler on Leonard). I wish they had these when I started biking everywhere!

'We are living in the shell of a gutted earth'-William S. Burroughs
I was riding my bike down Eastern, on my way back from my Home Health-Care job, avoiding the contant threat of death that comes from the speeding psychotics of Grand Rapids. They seem more blood-thirsty than usual on Eastern. I don't know why...but it made me think about how little people think about 'other people', nowadays. Maybe it's the cell-phones, or the t.v. shows, or the sense of pride that these morons try to preserve by telling themselves that they know what they're doing, but it bothers me that they don't look at bikers, and it bothers me that they don't notice our War is being fought for gasoline. Gasoline, also known as 'the blood of the earth', is in limited supply. Does this mean the earth is dying? The fact that we can't find gasoline anymore so we have to make imaginary wars to procure more of it is unsettling. The fact is that this gasoline is lethal to the air, and wildlife should also be cause for alarm, but we just keep plowing through. I am not advocating that people stop driving cars, it's too late for that. Most of my dearest friends drive, and it's their only way to get to work. I'm just asking people to be more aware. I mean it's bizarre when you look at streets and see how much space is reserved for cars and how little is reserved for people! It's ridiclous! And as the Urban Sprawl spreads with unprecendented speed you have to wonder how the trees are going grow back! Trees. We need trees to breathe but somehow we forget this. Just like we forget people, just like we forget bikers. This rant sprouted from some idiot who pulled without looking right in front of my bike. I rode around him to keep going, and then he pulled a u-turn and cut me off again.
Other than this I'm happy. 'Blood Wedding's' showing tonight at the U.I.C.A.! Come see us shine!
